A brand stylist is someone who specializes in helping you showcase your brand’s unique identity through developing a “signature style” that instantly sets you apart from everyone else. They are experts at helping you consolidate all the scattered parts of your brand (like your values, traits and key differentiating factors) into one look that says it all, and create the foundational brand style guides that designers rely on to create visually consistent content for any brand.

A brand stylist is well-versed in brand strategy and is fully equipped to guide you in making the big-picture decisions about your brand (such as understanding WHAT your brand identity is, and how it should be presented in relation to your business’s overall goals), whereas designers are only trained to “make things pretty” in accordance with the standards that have already been set for your brand. Brand stylists set those standards through the creation of brand style guides, and designers follow those guidelines to create visually consistent brand content.

The best time to hire a brand stylist is when you’ve been in business for a few years and have a solid foundation for what you do, but you’re starting to feel that you’ve “outgrown” your brand and that the look you have doesn’t represent you well.
